Bukit Melawati Monkeys

Perched atop a scenic hill in Kuala Selangor, Bukit Melawati offers more than just historic ruins and stunning coastal views—it's a place for a memorable encounter with its famous residents: the silver-leaf monkeys.

These gentle, grey-furred macaques are often surprisingly tame, freely roaming the pathways and often approaching visitors in hope of a treat. You can watch them interact and even feed them (approved snacks can be purchased locally), but always do so calmly and respectfully.

Be aware, however, that the quieter, silver-leaf monkeys share the area with more boisterous long-tailed macaques. These are the typical "mischevous monkeys" known for their boldness, so it's wise to secure any loose belongings, especially bags and food.

A visit to Bukit Melawati is a unique blend of history and wildlife, where the monkeys are not just part of the scenery—they are the main attraction.
