Malacca

Nestled on Malaysia's southwest coast, the historic town of Melacca (or Malacca) is a living museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its strategic location made it a prized trading port for centuries, attracting successive waves of influence from the Malay Sultanate, Portuguese, Dutch, and British empires.

This rich history is visible at every turn. A Famosa fortress gate, St. Paul's Hill, and the distinctive red Dutch Stadthuys stand as monuments to European colonizers. Meanwhile, the vibrant streets of the Jonker Walk night market and the traditional Peranakan (Straits Chinese) shophouses showcase a unique local culture born from intermarriage between Chinese merchants and local Malays.

From its ancient temples and colonial ruins to its famous riverfront and delicious cuisine like chicken rice balls and cendol, Melacca offers a captivating journey through time, earning its reputation as "The Historic State."
